Japanese Garb Class

On October 24th her Ladyship Dorothye Bolton will be teaching a class on Japanese garb.
The kosode is the single most important garment for your Japanese persona. It was worn throughout the entire SCA period, by men and women of all classes, and evolved into the modern kimono, yukata, and haori. Learn how to pattern and construct this most essential Japanese garment, and discover how fabric choices and sleeve styles varied across classes and time periods. Students will construct a miniature kosode, with the aim of being able to make a full-size version in Japanese garb part three. Fabric and tools provided, but students may bring their own sewing kit if they wish. Those who do not wish to sew are still welcome to join in for design and history portion of class.

Hear ye, hear ye!

Attention to the populace of Myrgan Wood! I will be teaching a class on Voice Heraldry on Tuesday November 14th, at our weekly fight practice! This class is open to anyone, new and old, who wish to learn about Voice Heraldry, and in particular is a crash course for those who are interested in helping with Heraldry at the upcoming Coronation of Their Royal Highnesses Kvigr and Svava!
Voice Heraldry is the art of announcement, an important part of any good medieval event, and consists of several different branches. A Town Crier is someone who provides general announcements to the populace at large, a Field Herald is those who introduce competitors in a procession and announce tournament matches, and a Royal Herald is the one who stands behind the thrones and speaks the words of the Crown. All three will be covered in the class, though we'll only need volunteers for the first two during the event.
Voice Heraldry contributes significantly to the medieval feel of an event, adding to the pomp and flair of important moments, and is a whole lotta fun! If interested, please let me know. There is no cost or class limit, so nothing is stopping you from coming and learning how to be a voice Herald!
Yours in service,
-Warden Alric the Indecisive, White Rabbit Herald
