About the site:
This is private
land. You are welcome to walk about. It is a beautiful area! Lets leave it as
beautiful as we find it. Please remove all garbage from your site when you
leave. There will be a large trash bin at the road entrance for your garbage.
There are areas that have been developed as permanent camping sites. Some of
these are structures that have been built and others are areas cut out of the
trees. All of these are marked by those who have worked on
them. If you are interested in developing your own space, you must
contact the site owners Stew & Gail Hiar at (780)639-6632.

Forms and Waivers:
Adult non-member waivers and minor waivers (for YOUR OWN children) will be
at troll and must be signed when you sign in.
.....If you are planning to bring children other than your own to an event,
here's what you and their parents need to do:
1. Print off a minor waiver, and have the parents / legal guardian fill it
out. This will be handed in at troll.
http://www.antir.sca.org/Pubs/forms/28_Multiple_Minor_Waiver.pdf
2. Print off at least 2 copies of the medical authorization form, and have
the parents / legal guardians fill them out. One copy stays on the minor for
the ENTIRE event, the other is kept by the adults responsible for the minor.
http://www.antir.sca.org/Pubs/forms/04_MinorMedical_CAN.pdf
3. Have the parents / legal guardians either:
a. write a note of permission stating that the parents / legal guardians
know that the adult has their minor child, along with a photocopy of the
parent's government issued ID (i.e. driver’s license) that clearly shows the
legal signature. (The address can be blacked out, but the name and signature
must be legible.) This is to be shown at troll, and kept by the adults
responsible for minor child.
OR
b. Get the documents notarized.
Troll *will* insist that you have these forms. If you do not have this
paperwork, the minor will NOT be allowed on site (so please, please remember
all of them).
Volunteering at troll:
Troll runs on the volunteer time of everyone involved. There is lots of time to fill and fun to be had greeting people as they arrive. Come and hang out at troll! Contact Magdalena (bonnie.chaban@gmail.com) to sign-up for your favorite time. Schedule is here.
General rules:
- Keep torches in a separate support (eg portable hole)
- DO NOT WALK ACROSS THE ARCHERY RANGE!
- The Castle is not a "playground" it is built for combat. There are many hazards to small children in and around the Castle. No unsupervised children please.
- Remove vehicles once you have unloaded them (parking areas are designated).
- Pets are to be leashed or under control at all times.
- Please bring some wood if you are planning a fire, or be prepared to forage for dead wood (don't cut live trees). We cut enough wood for the bardic circle, and when it runs out, so does the bardic circle.
Fire Rules:
- All cabins must have a CSA approved fire extinguisher for each level of their cabin. This means that all 2 story structures must have 1 extinguisher per floor.
- All cabins that with an internal heat source (e.g. wood stove, propane stove) must ensure that all sources of heat have adequate protection/space from the wooden structure;
- All cabins and or tents that insist on using a propane heater must take the appropriate measures to protect property, themselves & others from the heat source. All of theses sources of heat must be monitored at all times & not left on over night under any circumstances. This is to prevent CO2 buildup. You must ensure that all safety procedures, as outlined on the product you are using, are followed.
- Ground fires will not be allowed. The use of above ground covered brazier or such like item may be used but are subject to weather conditions. Grill covers over the fire will be mandatory. Announcements as to the fire status of the site will be updated daily on site at the time of the event (e.g. fires allowed or fires banned)
- It is highly recommended that groups of campers, encampments and or households have at min 1 fire extinguisher, and or sand bucket with shovel, available for quick use incase of an emergency.
- Please be familiar with where the RED FIRE STATIONS, set up around the site, are. They will consist of a bucket of sand and a shovel. Fire fighting axes & hatches will be located at the autocrats shed for use if need be.
- Tiki, propane or other such torches must not be placed in a position where the risk of starting a fire is not acceptable. The assessment of this is left to the assessment of the Autocrats & or the on site Fire Marshal.
- Everyone on site is responsible for his or hers own fire safety as well as for the safety of others.
Volunteer Opportunities:
There are always lots of opportunities for you to get involved in your favourite event. If you wish to volunteer ahead of time feel free to contact the organizer of your favourite activity from the Autocrat Team page. Generally speaking there is always a grateful reception for those willing to volunteer:
- Waterbearing
- Marshalling
- Walk the safety patrol
- Troll
- Lists
- Heralding
- (and any time a biffy needs attention, just let autocrat's point know)
